DISTILLERIES Rum
and sugar cane are one of the resources of the island.
There are a few distilleries accessible by wheelchairs.
The distillation of sugar cane is the process for the making of "agriculture white rum" (first distillation). It can also be aged in barrels to produce brown rum. St Jammes à St Marie

The Museum of Rum
Saint Jammes, located at Sainte Marie, is interesting to visit and gives you a
great explanation of the history of rum. Also,
you will be offered to taste the products by the end of the visit.
Its restaurant is accessible and the personnel is friendly.
The restroom should also be accessible.
There are other
"habitations" and old distilleries to visit, but with some
difficulties, like the Habitation Clement at the city of Francois, where the
paths are rather rough, and the entrance to the house itself has a high step.
Habitation Clément au François
The "habitation" used to be the house of the "Master"in slave time. Some
are rehabilitated as Hotel-restaurant
The
Leyritz plantation, at Basse-Pointe, is an old agriculture domain and one of the
most important ones of the Caribbean islands by its number of buildings.
Its garden is a treasure of Martinique flora.
Don't
miss visiting the street "Case-Negre", the watermill and its
restaurant "Le Ruisseau" installed in the ancient buildings. As
for the garden visit, it is somewhat difficult because of the uneven levels, but
it is not impossible. Plantation Leyritz 97218 Basse-Pointe tél.:.05.96.78.53.92. Other accessible museums.

On the Volcano of Pelee Mountain, take the "Route de l'Aileron" way to Morne Rouge, you will enjoy the panoramic view platform that is accessible to wheelchairs.
Markets
Access to the spice market Fort-de-France
is not very friendly to wheelchairs.
Sidewalks are insufficient and not up to the norm. They are high and
narrow. You will often have to use
the street. Nevertheless, it is
possible to visit the city up to the center. Places worth seeing are the spice market, the cathedral (that has a inclined path access on the side) but is not always open, the park "La Savane", and along the seaside (it is partly under construction now, but is however accessible up to the shuttle boat). There is also a shopping area with a pedestrian street, absolutely accessible.
Bibliothèque:(Library)Pavillon Bougenot(accessibly on the left side of the library), near "préfecture". Pavillon Bougenot(just in front of "préfecture" ,police station)accessibility for handicapped blind and physical: Cyber space, Newspapers, documentation, magazines.
